Review: Insidious, Chapter 2

Recommendation: Watch the first film prior to seeing the second. It'll just make more sense and especially since it starts off right after Elise - the kind yet spooky psychic who helps the Lambert's get their son back - succumbs to clutches of that nasty old lady in black. And for a sequel it gives the film credit that it feels more like a faster paced companion piece to the original, chilling fright-fest that was Insidious. So if the original is about not getting possessed, then the second chapter is about what happens when possession takes place. A criticism would be that it feels a tad choppy or hurried in the last half but that could be because there is a life or death race on. Overall it's effective and you learn all you need to know about that nasty old woman in black .... And the set up for Chapter 3 looks enticing for sure.
