Start Again

Each time I stop,
I have to start again

Dust off the ol' boots,
Find the courage within,
Dig deep for the platitudes,
The gratitude, and candy-coated mind treats

I saw a woman carve a path on TikTok,
Line it with multi-colored stones,
To the place her beloved last saw with his material eyes,
To the place he took his own life

No starting over then . . .
Just done,
Final,
Finished (here anyways)

Time whispers to me of a time not long passed,
When the corruption within,
Would have stolen my sunlight,
Kidnapped all hope

But I was never one to listen,
To block out a yearned for joy,
A possibility of peace,
Of connection and bliss

We all stumble and fall,
But we then have a choice,
Start again . . . you betcha
