Star and Richard arrived with yummy Panda Express to start out our evening of gift giving and board game merriment. The cocktail for the event was a Christmas Punch, with a rum base, delicious ginger beer, cranberry and pineapple juices plus a grapefruit-infused seltzer for a swirling sweet and slightly tart finish. Brown sugar was sprinkled on top with sliced oranges and drunk cherries added for that extra dazzle and taste plus giving it pops of holiday color. I made an iced spice cake for dessert (keeping extra holiday padding off this time of year is a battle). The night's board game was Dinosaur Island, a shameless ripoff of Jurassic Park, but its blatant copyright infringement did not deter us from eventually having a fun time with it. Richard did his darndest to give instructions on the game, which I struggle to focus on, usually just learning by doing and/or playing the game. Catching on, the focus of the game is to create dinos for your island and secure enough victory points to win the game. There's more to it but my typing thumbs disagree with sharing more. Richard won by three points over Star. Gifts were given, with some fun surprises. Cuteness abounded. I loved the old fashioned Mickey Mouse wrapping paper Star found for my presents. Classic. All told, t'was a fun holiday night with two magic Christmas ornaments in the tree of my mf life.
